Some leisure activities seem far from appealing in light of their impact on the environment and landscape. These include off-road driving, hunting, golfing (whose landscaping demands excessive fertiliser and watering), and skiing, the infrastructure of which permanently blots the landscape.
Devotees of these activities should observe certain rules. For example, avoid noisy motorised activities (such as jet skis, 4×4 vehicles, trail bikes, and snowmobiles) that disturb plants and animals outside the areas set aside for them. Never drive on off-road vehicle on a beach, in a marsh, or anywhere near birds’ nests.
