Daily Advice: Videoconference.

Nearly 44 million Americans telecommute to some degree. If only 10% of the nation’s workforce telecommuted once a week, it would save more than 1.2 million gallons of gasoline each week. If you can do your job remotely, ask your employer to consider trying a telecommuting scheme–the summer is a great time to make this request as the pace slows at many businesses while people go on vacation and take advantage of shortened summer hours.

Videoconferencing, though not exactly carbon neutral-it does require a lot of fancy electronics and energy-is far more eco-freindly than flying to business meetings.
